CARE
Pastoral care
Care of each other is a central part of our life in Templestowe Uniting Church. Formal and informal care networks minister to members of the church family.
The visitors group attempts to ensure that each member of the Congregation is visited several times during the year. The visitor provides another point of contact between members of the Congregation.
LinC - Love in the name of Christ
Templestowe Uniting Church supports LinC Manningham. LinC connects volunteers from local churches with people in need in our community. LinC exists because many needs in our community cannot be met by existiing agencies through lack of resources, and caring people want to help. People needing help include: Single parents, families in need, people living alone, young people, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
LinC services include visitation, shopping, home care, child care, transport, friendship, home maintenance, emergency food, and family support.
Needs are assessed by the LinC Referral Centre (9841 4025). Trained volunteers from local churches are called on to assist where appropriate. Confidentiality is assured.
LinC welcomes offers of financial assistance, donations of food and help from volunteers.
Prayer Group
A small group meets to consider personal and world-wide issues in prayer and meditation. Requests for prayer may be directed by telephone or through the minister. You can also put your request in the Offering collection bowls if you are at the Sunday service. There are post-it notes available in the foyer of the church for you to write your requests on.
Prayer requests can be anonymous.
Thursdays 7.00 pm - 8.00 pm
Bridgebuilders
Bridgebuilders meet as a small group in cafés for breakfast where we talk about our everyday concerns and have a discussion centred around a topic, followed by a time of simple worship at the end of our meeting. We finish with planning for what activities we will become involved in over the next month and decide on a topic and who leads the discussion next time. Some people call us "Cafe church."
Our group offers hospitality in the sharing of a meal and of the heart in the way we care for each other.
We welcome new members or casual visitors. Enquiries to Melinda - 9852-3163 - OR - Tina – 9848- 3947
Our regular breakfasts are at 10 am on the first Saturday of the month at the Living Room Cafe (Just up from Carlucci’s) in Templestowe village. Please feel free to join us at any time.
Support for Chaplaincy
Templestowe Uniting Church supports chaplaincy at nearby templestowe College. The role of the Chaplain is to represent the Christian churches in the College community by providing a service that brings hope, encouragement and purpose. Chaplaincy began at Templestowe College in 2001 and has enabled the College to extend the care and support it provides to students.
Templestowe Uniting Church provides regular financial support to the College chaplaincy, and church members support the chaplain by serving on the Chaplaincy committee.
