Ecotheology over breakfast?  Our topic, Ecotheology, was presented by Don Bartlett.

In early 1975 Don wrote "Pollution of the environment is a phenomenon that I regard as second only to overpopulation as the major crisis facing mankind ?. the most serious problem is carbon dioxide."

Don said this statement was by no means prophetic, just a logical conclusion to his work experience to that time. Don reflected on his long environmental journey and in that context asked us to look back on our own life journey - where we have come from and where we might be going.    What's this?

• Saying Sorry to the Earth   -   Grandstand for the Environment! Concerned about global warming, environmental degradation, etc. but feeling powerless to something about these issues? Do something positive for the environment, yourself, and the earth you will leave to your kids, grandchildren, friends. Make a stand (Grandstand!) with this non-political, active group of people from the Manningham area.

          Grandstanders are active again in 2008. We recently held a public forum on "Saying Sorry to the Earth."

• LOW ENERGY LIGHTS - TUC have been given a supply of 25 watt low energy lights by the City of Manningham because of our input into the Council's vision of Manningham in 2020. We are selling them for only $5 each and all proceeds go to Grandstand for the Environment. Not only will you save 80% on your lighting bill, but also about 120 litres of carbon dioxide every hour.

     Living the Questions is back! 

    Is it possible to live the Christian Life and not leave your Mind behind?

Living the questions is a DVD and web-based small group study exploring beyond the traditions and rote learnings to which so many people were exposed and upon which so many churches seem to be stuck.

What's happened (News)

• Saturday 21 June - Men's breakfast was held at 7.30 am at TUC - Guest speaker John Hyne spoke on "Is your mobile phone killing you?"
• Wednesday 18 June - Church Council met 7.30 pm.
• BRIDGEBUILDERS met on Saturday 7 June 10.00 am at "The Living Room"in Templestowe Village.

• Elders met Wednesday 4 June 8.00 pm

• We held a combined service withb St. Mark's Anglican Church at TUC on Sunday 18 May. We renewed our covenant with St. Mark's.

• Congregational Meeting to elect Elders and Church Councillors was held on Sunday 11 May.  
• Thursday 20 March 7.30 pm - Maundy Thursday - Communion & Foot Washing in the old church .
• On Sunday 24 February 10.00 am we held a Celebration Service for "Waripana."
• ASH WEDNESDAY PRAYER PILGRIMAGE AND SERVICE. Church was open from 6.00 pm. Ash Wednesday marks the start of the season of Lent in the Christian calendar. We started Lent with a pilgrimage walk and evening service. The service was brief but appropriate to starting our preparation for Easter.

The walk commenced at 6.20 in the church with a brief prayer and took place through nearby Westerfolds park. We returned to the church by 7.20 for a reflection and traditional imposition of ashes. A booklet to guide us through the walk with suggested meditations was provided at the start of the evening.
